Mosquitoes repellent alright for baby?

I'm not sure why but it seems to have a lot of mosquitoes when it's hot. Dr. advice my baby not to sleep in air condition room for a week or until his cough gets well. So i did not on air-cond and every night there's a lot of mosquitoes biting us.

I'm sad to see my baby with all the mosquitoes bite and i'm worry that it might be an aedes mosquitoes which can make my baby gets dengue. So i bought a Mortein Red mats mosquitoes repellent.

All I need to do is plug it in and switch it on. It does have a strong fragrance smell but it works, cause there's no mosquitoes, well at least we didn't get bitten though i still can see a few flying around.

I've tested the liquid form, Mortein Liquid something but it's not working. You can see the mosquitoes fly by yet didn't faint or die. I've use the spray too but after awhile mosquitoes flies back.

I would like to ask is it alright to use this mosquitoes repellent in my room with my baby inside? I can't think of anyway else to shoo off the mosquitoes. I can't keep awake all night just to hit them.

Thanks!

  1. i would not use that its poison and its not good for your baby's lungs.

  2. I would not spray a room with my baby inside. Having lived in Africa for 7 years I know the battle, and the health risks. These are things I've used for years to combat mosquitoes and thus not ever get Malaria.

1)Seal the room and spray the walls and under all the tables, chairs and beds with a pyrethroid based spray. (in Tanzania we use the brand name "Ngao".

2)Use a fan faced toward the baby to blow away any mosquitoes that survive the spraying and haven't died yet.

3)Being an adult I've found that garlic is disliked by mosquitoes so that if I ingest it (in normal cooking...) they will rarely bite me.

    Good luck!

  3. you shouldnt use bug repellent until the baby is at least 6 months and after that it says to only apply once and not on hands or head. I would invest in a misquitoe net if you are concerned cost you 5 bucks but its sooo worth it, they fit on strollers and playpen,

  4. I'm pretty sure a repellent that isn't sprayed or used directly on the skin would be fine. For example, if it is sitting on a table or whatever and keeps the bugs away, that should be fine. Still, you should read the directions to be sure. But don't spray "Bug-Off" or anything on the baby.

  5. Skin so Soft by avon is an excellent repellent
