Mosquitofish in a duck pond?

i have 6 ducks and there mini pond,is 83''56''17 inches its not very big but thats all i got.they turn the water brown and green pretty quickley,how many mosquitofish would i have to put in there to keep it clean? and can those fish handle that much duck p**p?and during the winter do i have to put them ina tank and keep them inside?and what do i need in the pond for shelter?

  1. I too have a duck pond that gets dirty really fast. I have a filter and pump and everything, but all the duck p**p settles on the bottom.

    I got some mosquitofish and put them in and they helped, but the problem is no matter what you do you will have to change out the water at least every month or so, and it's hard to collect all the fish.

    Either way though, mosquito fish are great and really do lessen the amount of time between cleanup. I just put a couple of cynder blocks on the bottom of the pond and they hide out in there.  


  2. you don't always need fish i found so really cheap lotion that is orgsabnic and doesn't harm the pond and clears it um in a few days look in your local garden centre
