Question:

Mossberg 590A1 Won't accept 8th Shell Into Tube?

I just purchased a new 590A1 and attempted to load (8) 2.75" shells into the tube but would not accept the last one. I read the owner's manual and even the sticker on the side indicates that it is a 8+1 but it will on accept (7) 2.75" rounds in the tube. I checked my new box of shells and all of them are labeled 2.75". The gun is stamped 590A1 on the side, it looks like an A1 and all the paperwork and manual is indicating that it is a 590A1. Is there anyway that this problem can be fixed?

  1. My 500 had a wooden dowel restricting capacity. I took off the mag cap off and shook the shotgun and out it came.

  2. sounds like a long spring  to me. Or the follower isnt installed right. The plug cant be in if you get 7 in. Thats the obvious... pump shotgun magazines are not that complicated

Give Mossberg a call... if it's a new gun they should take care of it.

  3. Maybe there's a plug in the tube restricting capacity.  I had a M500 Cruiser w/ a 20 in. bbl. and it only held 7+1.

  4. Disassemble and check the follower

  5. Not all 2 3/4 inch shotgun shells are 2 3/4 inch....  If they are slightly oversize the last one wont go in...  How for does the 8th shell go into the magazine tube before it stops? If its a 1/4 inch or less then I would suspect that.......
