Question:

Mossberg 702 Plinkster?

d**k's Sporting Goods in Vegas is selling a .22lr 10 shot semi-auto Mossberg Plinkster 702 WITH scope & sling for $129.99.

Is this as good a deal as it seems to be? Anyone buy this combo and have an opinion?

I know that a Ruger 10/22 is a similar, more popular, and about a $100 more expensive gun (without scope) that has more aftermarket parts available, but I'm only interested in plinking around with the gun right out of the box.

  1. I have the 802 Plinkster I bought for fun from Gander Mtn.  I got it used so it was like 45 dollars.  I'm not sure if it was the previous owner but my .22 won't shoot straight.  When I try to adjust the sights, its error is beyond calibration.  It was a lame investment on my part but its not like I use it for anything.  I have 2 other .22s from when I was younger.  They shoot straight as an arrow.  I'd stay clear.  Also, the bolt jams constantly and I keep pliers with me when I shoot it.  Real headache.  My Remington never jams and it shoots straight.

  2. You should be able to get a lightly used 10/22 for $130, check gun stores and pawn shops in your area.

  3. that price sounds right as they come with the scope from the factory . i bought the camo semi auto one last month and it is a good little plinker. not as accurate as my 10/22 bot pretty close.
