Most Disappointing Starts of the 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Regular Season –Part 2
In the last part, we discussed how Montreal Canadiens had certainly disappointed in the new 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season thus far, but they were a team that hardly made it into the playoffs and were eliminated in the first round,
making them a commonly ranked team.
The real issue comes when a team that came out as champions of the Stanley Cup after eliminating tough competition in three rounds of the postseason, than ending up as the second lowest ranked team throughout the league during the next season.
With teams that ranked in the bottom numbers last season moving up to the top, teams which were considered strong will have to rethink their situation and get a move on if they hope on surviving past the regular season.
Boston Bruins (Eastern Conference)
Archrivals of Montreal, Boston sure did have a good laugh after eliminating them during the 2011 NHL Eastern Conference Quarterfinals in a seven-game series, but seeing them at the number 15 spot of the conference, Canadiens might be the ones who are laughing
now.
Bruins won only three matchups in October out of a total 10 contests, which certainly does not give off an impression of them being the defenders of the Stanley Cup.
This season is crucial for Boston, because after having won the most coveted prize in the hockey world, they should not be giving the cup up so easily without at least putting up a fight first.
Their team is almost the same, with a few players on other teams now, but with the talent they still have, Boston should be winning each and every single game rather than losing ever second contest and not being able to bounce back until having lost three
straight.
One thing for sure though is that Boston is a team that you can place your bets on because it will sometime sooner or later, make a comeback and shock the entire league with their playing abilities. They are not a team that will be kept out of the postseason,
unless something really goes seriously wrong for them.
Other than that, Boston has a veteran leadership, which at the moment looks to be taking things easily, but the Bruins line-up knows when they will have to turn things around and it certainly will not be a pretty sight for other teams.
