Most Disappointing Starts of the 2011-2012 National Hockey League (NHL) Regular Season –Part 4
There are some teams in the National Hockey League (NHL), which even after making some blockbuster trades during the offseason, have still not managed to improve in any aspect regarding their game play and stats.
Then there are others which have shown a considerable amount of improvement, not only in their winning but also better functioning as a team on the ice.
We have seen during the first month of the 2011-2012 NHL regular season, there has been shifting in the management, which is obviously a result of teams not being able to output according to former expectations entering the new season.
Talking about our next team, changes in management might just be in the pipeline if they continue the way they are at the moment.
Columbus Blue Jackets (Western Conference)
For Columbus fans, seeing their home team, Blue Jackets, perform the way they have been so far is truly disappointing, especially since they could not win a single game in their eight matchups and finally won in a big way against Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday,
October 25, 2011, 4-1.
At the end of October, Columbus holds a very disheartening record of 2-9-1, making them the lowest ranked team not only in the Western Conference, where they stand at number 15, but in the entire league with only five points, while the number 15 team in
the East has eight points.
This is not something new for Columbus, last season there team was in the same position it is now, but without a number of players that joined during the offseason.
Now according to latest reports, the jobs of Columbus Blue Jackets general manager, Scott Howson and head coach, Scott Arniel, could be on the line and changing them up might just be the last and final solution for the teams’ ownership in order to improve
their club.
Columbus has the majority of their games next month at home at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, which should be the game changer for them, but if things continue the way they currently are, Blue Jackets could be facing serious consequences later on.
