Call me a homer but I will say Shane Doan

A great power foward who could have gone anywhere during the Non- Salary Cap era and stayed with a team who's foundation had crumbled with #7 being traded to the Blues.

Doan became the Captain and the face of the team leading a new foundation of players inspite of the team not making it to the playoffs since 2002 and never once made it past the first round in Coyotes history(in 1987 they did as the Jets).

Doan Remains with this team inspite of past Money troubles, poor attendence records over the years and critism by others that the Team should either fold or relocate.

Who do you think is the most faithful NHL player to his team over the last 10 or so years?

  1. Steve Yzerman

    Nick Lidstrom

  2. He didn't spend all the time as a player, but mario lemieux.  Not only did he put up fantastic numbers as a player, but also saved the Penguins from moving to another city twice as an owner.

  3. stevie y

  4. Mats Sundin comes to mind for this one.  he couldve easily got a wish granted for a trade over the past few seasons but he stayed true to the maple leaf blue

shane doan is a great example of that as well

  5. Jarome Iginla - Calgary Flames.

  6. Mats Sundin He could have been traded to team that had a great chance at the Cup but instead he wanted to stick in Toronto and play there. He got my respect.

  7. Mats Sundin, his team has always sucked.

  8. Sundin

  9. Alfredsson. He has stayed with Ottawa through bad years and good years and will continue to stay

  10. Iginla!

For sure, he said he's never leaving Calgary EVER,  even if they don't want him, he wouldn't even consider going to another team.

Pretty weird from someone whose from Edmonton.

  11. I think you have to go with either Sakic or Yzerman.  My reasons are as follows:

Both played for the same team (franchise) their entire careers (so far, for Joe).

Both joined their teams (franchises) and played through more than a few years of their teams being horrible!  Yzerman's early Wings were dreadful, and so were Sakic's early Nordiques.  Both were superstars on these early teams and did not leave for greener pastures elsewhere!

Both players could have made more money elsewhere!!  Both chose to take "moderate" contracts to stay with their team of choice.  I'm not saying they were poorly paid; I'm just saying that surely someone would have paid more if they thought they could have lured them away with money.

And this leads to an all-important point:  neither Yzerman or Sakic were ever truly rumoured to be going elsewhere... all other GM's knew that these two players were with their 'teams-for-life' already.

Both will skate on one leg for their team if they think it will help!  We've all witnessed that from both players and been moved by it!

  12. Steve Yzerman.....the captain.

  13. Jaromir Jagr

to the moron that gave me a thumbs down:  get a sense of humor

  14. Mats Sundin, Mario, I'll even throw Messier out there as well.

  15. For some reason Joe Sakic pops into mind.

  16. It's got to be Mario. That's not to say that other players aren't faithful or loyal or really good guys, but what Lemiuex did for the Penguins is, as far as I know, unprecedented. See the post-retirement section in the link below. Basically, as a player, he deferred a TON of salary to stay in Pittsburgh. When the team struggled to pay him (and others), he could've taken them to court to get his money and essentially killed the franchise. Instead, he worked a deal that was great for the team (and pretty good for him too).

  17. I gotta go with Mats Sundin! he stayed with the leafs after all these years! i guess he really deserved the messier award!

  18. Steve Yzerman
