Unfortunately the most memorable hit was Stevens on Lindros.Eric was my favorite player for years and it was his first game back after concussions and that hit along with many other factors that lead him to New York.

Out of all my years of watching the Buffalo Sabres.  I would have to say the 1 i most remember is the one Brian Campbell did on Umberger.  Holy cow that was a hit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Darius Kasparitis hit on Lindros... that's my # 2 but that hit on Umberger was CLASSIC .... reminded me of the old cartoons with the character getting hit in the head and the 'birdie noises' with the tweety birds circling around the head...

The most memorable to me was Larry Robinson's hit on Gary Dornhoefer of the Flyers (I think in 75...yeah, I'm getting old). Not the most spectacular hit, but a good, clean, crushing check. They actually had to stop the game to repair the boards.

The hit is at 1:40...but there are several good Robinson hits on the video.

1.  Dollard St. laurent of Montreal creamed Gordie Howe in a late 50s playoff game - a hit that was talked about for years.

2.  Pat Quinn on Bobby Orr in the early 70s, there is probably vide of this somewhere

3.  Scott Stevens on Eric Lindros

4.  Borje Salming on Gilbert Perreault...early 80s....had this been at the Aud, Salming would be dead now because Perreault laid on the ice for a good 5 minutes

5.  Dale Hunter on Pierre Turgeon............for all the wrong reasons

While watching the game I jumped out of my seat so fast and was screaming at the television. I think I yelled more for the hit than I did for Briere's OT winner in that game. I had a choice of going to either game 1 or game 2 of the series and I chose to go to game two. Although the Sabres annihilated the Flyers 8-2 in that game, I wish I went to game 1 just so I could see that hit live in person.
