Most UNDERRATED and OVERRATED players in baseball?

Please list the 5 most or 10 most overrated and underrated players in baseball...in your opinion of course.

Underrated:

1. Justin Morneau

2. Curtis Granderson

3. Joe Nathan

4/5. Benjie Molina and Yadier Molina (look at the stats)

These are just some. I will have a playoff of the top 8 for each category.

Derek Jeter has been named plenty of times on overrated lists, but Jorge Posada? What's the reasoning behind that one? As he gets older, his offensive stats get better. This year he's had a bit of trouble with a bum shoulder, but everytime he goes out there, he's all heart. He's tough. He's a leader.

I don't understand how Posada could be called overrated.

Ivan Rodriguez is not overrated. He is headed to the HOF once he hits HR #300

Underrated: Marcus Thames, Skip Schumaker, Curtis Granderson, Justin Morneau, Carlos Pena, Carlos Guillen, Justin Verlander, Placido Polanco, Jose Arredondo, Gary Sheffield (He deserves A LOT more credit...he has almost 500 HR's for God's sake!)

How can you say Jeter and I-Rod are over rated when they are going to the hall of fame!! All these guys you named as over rated are just having an off season except for the d-railed train...and posada is injured how can you be hating on somone whos injured...other than that i agree with your under rated

i agree greatly with your underrated  also include Placido Polanco, Raul Ibanez, Mark Texiara. also Brandon Inge not so a hitter but as a fielder he makes amazing plays.

Dontrelle has been hurt the whole year with knee problems so i dont kno how really he can be overrated.  

I dont know if hes under or over rated but kevin youkilis i just hate him the way he stands in the box just pisses me off

1.derek jeter-not a dangerous hitter and his numberrs are declining

2.matt holiday-is a good hitter only because he plays in denver

3.jimmy rollins -won the mvp with less then 100 rbi's

4.barry zito-signed the mo0st lucrative contract for pitcher yet he cant win ball games

5.andrew jones -top three in salery not even top 100 in skill

1.Adrian gonzalez-rbi machine legendary power flawless defense and team player yet gets no attention

2.hanley ramirez -great hitter grat defense whack salary

3.matt cain-great pithcer doesent win due to lack of giants run support last year he got the maximum of 4 runs of support and more often had 0 runs of support

4.jeff blum-can play bassically every possion good hiiter

5.scoot hairston last year he was traded to the padres for a nobody and hes one of the greates power threats and cluth hitter no to mettion spped agilaty and great deffense

THE MOLINA BROTHERS ARE DEFINITELY UNDERRATED FOR SURE! good call

no vlad is amazing not just cuz im a fan but if you were to watch all their games you would know.  he is a threat to every pitcher and when hes hot he can carry a team.  hes just not having his best year thats all.

Granderson for sure, ever since we got Cabrera, people have been praising him and Magglio, when Granderson can carry the team.

-vlad guerrero(injury prone and has had an off year)

-joe mauer(same as guerrero)

-derek jeter(stats are poor..was a fantastic player, and still is very good, but he should not have started in the all star game over michael young)

-carlos beltran(has been very good, but not the astounding the player the mets had in mind when they signed him)(im still a mets fan, mind you)

-barry zito(been injured, demoted to the bullpen, and his team has gotten nowhere after signing him to a deal over 100 million dollars)

-jj putz(last year seems like a fluke considring he cant stay healthy and when he is hes gotten wrecked this year)

-kosuke fokuhdome(japanese import whom has been a nice little surprise, but i doubt it will even last to the end of the year)

-felix hernandez(has always been hyped as the "next best thing"..but thats been every year for the past 3 or 4 years..look the guy should be great and people forget hes only 22, but he hasnt done anything to prove himself worthy of all star status, at least not yet)

-dontrelle willis(no one knows what happened these past 2 years as he has lost velocity, been on losing teams, and got demoted to Class A)

-all of the tampa bay rays except for bj upton and carl crawford(only those guys are the real deal this year, but the rest of the rays are collapsing along with their AL East lead)

-andruw jones(batting like .162, if not lower than that)

-delmon young(matt garza has out performed him stat wise and although his team is in the mix for the AL Central, I've never thought of him as a solid player)

underrated"

-brandon phillips(the man is an excellent second baseman and if it wasnt for uggla and utley, he might be the best one in the national league)

-michael young(every year he gets at least 200 hits..now that hes getting older he is getting less hits but still is an incredible hitter and i predict he wont ever hit under .300

-howie kendrick(probably my most favorite player and for a reason:the dude can hit..he has an uncanny ability to use all fields and he has missed a ton of time this year due to his wrist yet he still is managing to hit around .336 and help keep the angels in first place..id say he should be the captain even over vladdie guerrero)

-mike pelfrey(the former whichita state star finally has established himself in the bigs, with a 9-6 record and an ERA of 3.67 and has been red-hot, a big reason why the Mets are now in first place

-john maine(he has been so unbelievably consistent over these past few years with new york and even though he has been poor this year, he has proved he is a big game pitcher as well(Game 6, 2006 NLCS)(September 30, 2007 regular season)

-Albert Pujols(This may come as a shock to some people but seriously the man is one of the top 3 hitters in baseball..people forget he has been fighting through a torn left elbow all year yet still puts up unreal numbers and is in his mid twenties with already 300 home runs)

-And finally, Andre Dawson, whom I am aware is retired(He is a member of the exclusive 300-300 club and has been an 8 time all star and gold glover and an NL MVP and 100% deserves to be in the Hall Of Fame)

I really don't agree with Ivan Rodriguez being overrated.  In his prime he was the most dominant catcher in the game.. He's aging now and just slowing down with age.  He's a HOF bound catcher.

Most over rated right now to me is Carlos Delgado. The most under rated right now would be Pat Burrel who did not get voted into the All Star Game eventhough his numbers are better than David Wright's who got voted into the All Star Game by baseball fans.
