  1. Back in the early days of baseball unearned runs were very common.  The most by a team was:

    1890 Players Leage - Cleveland 1027 R, 537 ER, 490 Unearned

    1887 American Association : Cleveland 1112 R, 630 ER, 482 Unearned

    1890 National League - Pittsburgh 1235 R, 780 ER, 455 Unearned.

    Post 1900 the most was:

    1903 National League - St. Louis 795 R, 494 ER, 301 Unearned

    Most by each decade since 1940:

    1945 National League - Philadelphia 865 R, 697 ER, 168 Unearned

    1950 American League - St. Louis 916 R, 789 ER, 127 Unearned

    1962 National League - New York 948 R, 801 ER, 147 Unearned
