  1. Also compared to the US, the road are narrow, overall not in good condition although improving and driving on the other side of the road without an automatic gearbox.

    On top of that you have to contend with the local driver  ;)


  2. because they haven't moved with the times,  car insurance in Northern Ireland has always been high because of the troubles, where some nice terrorist either stole your car to use to take a bomb in, or your car just happen to be in the area of an explosion.

  5. Credit card companies require that you decline any coverage offered by car rental companies in order for the credit card company to cover you. By Irish law, car rental companies are required to provide (and charge) you for certain types of coverage. For example, you cannot decline Third Party Liability coverage when renting a car. Also, when an Irish rental company quotes you a price, the price must include collision and theft insurance. If you do not want these last two coverages, you must explicitly decline the coverage. These requirements are different than most other European countries.
