I.  the baby boom is a hugle population bubble. the oldest boomers are reaching retirement now.  (BUT, WITH THE STATE OF THE ECONOMY SOME WILL CONTINUE TO WORK AT RETIREMENT AGE).

II.  Some women may be able to care for children while the husband works because daycare is sooo expensive.

Here again, women are more financially worse off now in many ways that I don't see that there will be a decrease in the women's labor force rate.

III.  The US popluation is increasing mostly due to immigration and birth rates I believe on average are 1.3 kids.

IV.   Economies grow and retract.

B. The baby boomers will not only be out of the work force but many family members will need to leave to take care of their family. Our economy has shifted to a more consumer based than product based so as fewer folks work, they will spend less and the economy may not grow. It always will have times when it doesn't grow or when it really takes off. The working age population is decreasing compared to the resources necessary to take care of the baby boomers in retirement. It will take more people working to support each retired person than ever before. War seems to create less people, not just from casualties but due to people being gone for long periods of time and thus not growing families. When baby boomers die off, younger generations will not have the numbers to replace them. It was a phenomenal boom in births after WW II and the Depression. Times were good and people procreated.
