Most england teams wear the three lions as a logo, but why does rugby union have the rose?

  1. The Red Rose is the national symbol of England, ever since the House of Lancaster, who adopted the rose as their emblem, defeated the House of York way back in 1487. The Lion stems from the English coat of arms. I guess both factions wanted to adopt a national recognisable symbol for their sport.
