  1. Don't remember the name of the restaurant but the server added the ingredients to my baked potato and mixed them up with the potato after it was served to me while wearing white gloves and didn't get a drop on his gloves.

  2. It was a sort of embarrassing thing - a friend and I saw a menu for a seafood restaurant in Brussels and decided we could afford one of the plates.  When we got in and seated, we realized it was a hugely epensive place, and the item we saw was for sell by the OUNCE, so we could only afford the cheapest thing on the menu.  The waiter was very put out that we didn't order soup, appetizer, anything.  At one point we considered getting up and running.

When the food came they made a BIG deal about setting the plates down together and whooshing off the silver lids - and I laughed out loud, because you'd need a microscope to see the 3 teeny little bites of food we were paying 60 bucks for!

Never been to a place like that again.  (someday when I strike it rich, maybe).  For now, Applebees works for me and I almost never feel like running away!

  3. I posted this on another question:

In Seattle ate at Ray's Boat House.... Two bottles of Argentinian Malbec Red Wine close to $100 a bottle. Two Appetizers - Mussels and a Baked Brie, Entree - Sake Marinated Sable Fish and Pan Seared Jumbo Scallops, Desserts - Creme Brulee with Fresh Fruit and Lemon Tort, Two Port Wines over Dessert and Two Bottles of Pellingrino Water over Dinner...

After Tip and Tax it was around $500... absolutely worth it...

Rays is an amazing restaurant that over looks the water and islands from Seattle.  Wonderful view if the clouds haven't settled.  Very private and romantic.  Definitely not a family restaurant.  Dress to impress... one of the best meals I have ever had.

In Chicago at Vivo Italian Restaurant - 3 Bottles of Red Wine from the Valpolicia Wine Region, Two Appetizers - Calamari and Charcuterie Platter, 1st Entree Pan Seared Ahi Tuna with Avocado Reduction for two, 2nd Entree Braised Veal for me, Soft Shell Crab on Fettucinni for my girl, two desserts - Gelato over Puff Pastry with Chocolate Sauce drizzle, Tiramisu and a bottle of ice wine, two bottles of pellingrino over dinner.... some where in the $500 to $600 range...

Vivo is a great Italian place hidden in Chicago.  My concierge at the W Hotel recommended the restaurant to me.  I made friends with the owner and go back every time I'm in Chicago.  Excellent wine list and all the food is fresh and amazing.

With any food you pay for what you get.  Nothing is better than high end food paired with great wine!

  4. I would say mine was at a restaurant called Envoy at the Ambassador Hotel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I felt like the place was trying a little too hard to be fancy. I also did not enjoy my meal, but only because I tried something new, and I didn't like the sauce.

That and my sister was being a dork about it. She's a McDonald's kind of woman.

I'm looking forward to eating at some fine dining establishments in my life. There's a place called Sage in my home city that I'd like to go to. Also, we're planning on going Cite for our honeymoon, so that should be pretty fancy. :)

  5. Most fancy was at Widows on the World when the Twin Towers were still standing-But the BEST meal I ever had was at the Italian restaurant at the Culinary Institute in New Hyde Park, NY (The Original Culinary Institute of America)

Everything there is seasonal, so the menu changes every couple of months-Most recently, I was there in the fall, and started off with FRESH made Mozzerella with fresh prosciutto, so unlike what you get in the stores-Then, had pasta course with gemelli pasta, roasted Pumpkin, pancetta, fresh baby shrimp,, and pignoli nuts. For dinner, had baby rib lamb chops crusted with pistachios in a red wine reduction, with a side dish of polenta with Gorgonzola, walnuts, and fresh pocini mushrooms-Had a Merlot to drink with it, and for dessert, a chocolate mousse on top of chocolate lava cake with a side of homemade hazulenut ice cream, rolled in dark chocolate and crushed hazlenuts.....

  6. A $1250 lunch, it was special crab in a special restaurant in a special place

  7. Olive Garden...

  8. Fiamma at the MGM Grand in Vegas.. Most unreal food!  I think for the 2 of us it was like 270.  The best part was the freshly pressed coffee at your table.  One carafe was like 12.00.
