Colorado Avalanche: No. 19
Joe Sakic is one of the first Colorado Avalanche players to be included in the list of players to make their number the most iconic. The Avalanche brought him into the team as a 15th overall draft pick in 1988. He spent his entire time with the
Avalanche as he retired in 2009.
Joe was able to pile up some decent numbers during the time he spent with the Avalanche. He played in 1378 games during his journey with the Avalanche that saw him scoring 625 goals. He was able to come up with a huge number of assists that pile up to 1016
taking his total points tally to 1641 points.
Sakic was part of 14 All Star games missing only six All Star appearances during his time in the National Hockey League. The Canadian born player was also part of his international team and was able to shine.
There are loads of achievements backing him start with the gold medal that he obtained in 2002 at the Olympics in Salt Lake City. He was also on the end of receiving gold and silver medals in 1994 and 1996 respectively. Joe was able to establish new records
in almost every department during his time with the Avalanche.
His goal put him in the all time leading goal scorers he led the list of player to come up with most assists and points as well. Sakic also holds the record for playing the most games in the Avalanche. There are several other records that he has been able
to write his name on.
He is first in the list of players to bag the most assists during the course of the All Star games. Joe is third in the list of players to score points in the All Stars games with 22 and first in the list of players to score the most over-time goals with
six.
However, the most exciting one is that of holding the second spot in most goals scored in a single play-off season with 18. He has not been inducted into the Hall of Fame as yet, but he will be soon with the statistics and performances that he has bagged
during his time as a player.
Boston Bruins No. 7: Phil Esposito
Phil Esposito is another Bruin’s player in the list. He is one player who played for different teams and was able to shine in all three of them. However, his contribution to the Bruins was the most notable when it comes to mentioning this spot.
The Bruins acquired him as a result of a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks in 1967. However, his journey ended when he joined hands with the New York Rangers in 1975. Phil was one of the most productive players for the Bruins as he played in 625 games for
them during which he was able to score 459 goals.
Not only this, but Esposito was also able to post 553 assists scoring a total of 1012 points. His career was highlighted with plenty of awards with the most notable being the Art Ross Award that he received on several occasions.
Again, Esposito is one of those players who got recognition for what he did in the sport and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1984.
