Edmonton Oilers: No. 17
Jari Kurri is the next inclusion in the list that has a very strong resume to back his position in the list. He is one the great wingers that the National Hockey League has come across and the services that he has given, certainly makes him one of the best
in the department.
He spent the initial ten years of his career with the Edmonton Oilers from the time when was drafted as the 69th overall pick in 1980. He stayed there until 1990 and brought about a lot success to the team and for himself. However, Kurri parted
ways with the team when he was traded away to the Philadelphia Flyers in 1991.
Jari has been part of 754 games in an Edmonton Oilers Number 17 jersey that has witnessed him scoring 474 goals and bagging 569 assists, taking his total points tally to 1043 points. He was one of those remarkable players who had the ability to carry the
entire weight of the team on his shoulders.
Kurri’s career kicked off in an emphatic way when he won the European Junior Hockey Championship and was drafted by the Oilers soon after. It did not take him too long to shine for the Oilers and he got hold of the Stanley Cup for the first time in 1984.
He continued to pile up dominating performances and stunned the fans with the productive level that he displayed with each passing game.
He was able to grab three more Stanley Cup titles with the Oilers when they finally parted ways with them. His career was mainly spent with the Oilers and he made it into the All Star team on multiple occasions. Jari was also included in the World Team that
played in 1998. Not only this, but he was also in the list of top 100 players in the National Hockey League sitting at the 50th spot in the list. He achieved another mile-stone when he became the first Finnish player to be inducted into the Hall
of Fame in 2001.
Buffalo Sabres: No. 11
Another one of the true legends of the game, Gilbert Perreault has a spot in the list of being one of those players that turned things around with his arrival in the National Hockey League.
He was acquired by the Buffalo Sabres in 1970 as the first draft pick and stayed with the Sabres until the end of the career when he retired in 1987. Gilbert has a lot of experience and there are many things that he achieved during the time that he spent
with the Sabres.
Perreault played 1191 games for the Sabres which saw him producing 512 goals, 814 assists scoring a total of 1326 points. The statistics that he maintained until the end of his career, he led the team with the most goals, points scored by an individual,
assists and also game winning goals.
He was chosen to play in nine All Star games which saw him dominating there as well and showing the diverse knowledge he had about the game. The 100 top National Hockey League players’ list that was established in 1998 placed him in the 47th spot.
He was also one of the unique players to be awarded the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy in 1973 for his great sportsmanship and excellent conduct while being on ice.
