Most interesting/ best place(s) to visit in Italy?

I'm thinking about visiting Italy soon but am curious about all the places to go to. I would like to visit them all, but do not have enough time. Can you tell me which sites are the best if I'm only going to be there for 1-2 days and why?

For a unique experience and breathtaking scenery and beaches, forget Tuscany. Sardinia is infinitely more interesting and beautiful. The Costa Smeralda will knock your socks off.

Puglia or (Apulia in English).  Southeast part of Italy...very unique, very different with a strange touch of greek influence, history, food, music, culture....and always SUNNY!!  Look it up on "google images" and just type Apulia or Puglia...its an awesome place, I was born and raised.

I would go either to Rome or to Tuscany (Florence and Siena), try to stay a little longer if you can! There is just so much to see and do!
