A screen filter will work well here. The arrangement will depend a lot on whether you are trying to recover the fibers, or to clean the liquid.

As with most contact filters the screen filter will become much more efficent after a layer of the filtrate (in this case the fibers) has accumulated on the surface. The screen can be shaped to be a cylinder which will add strength. Cleaning the fibers from the cylindrical screen should not be difficult.

The screen can also be used as a support for a fine cloth sleeve to be slipped over it to contact the mixture first..
