I have a 91 acura integra rs... just recently when i started trying to reverse theres been like a loud buzz noise like the trannys not catching or something. Sometimes if i go from drive to reverse it will catch and reverse just fine others it will just make the noise and i quick put it to drive or nuetral and it stops. What do u think this is? also it has a short where it blows out the number 11 fuse( a 15) over and over and my tail lights and instumentent panel dont light up anymore.

  1. Is it a manual transmission?  If it is, the syncro is going out.

  2. mechanic?

  3. Have you checked the transmission fluid level?

As for the fuse, have someone watch the fuse while you activate various electrical things (step on brake, turn on lights, etc), one at a time, to attempt to make it blow out.    That should give you a lead on the problem if the fuse blows out.

If none of that turns up anything, is the fuse blowing because of vibration while driving?   You may have a wire that's moving due to vibration, and that could wear through the insulation causing it to short to ground.   That might be hard to find, as you'll need to either inspect the wiring harness, or move the wires around while activating various things like the brakes, or while the lights are on.
