mot expires end of august how long can i leave it legally as i have not enough funds to pay as yet my tax is ok for 6 months

There is no leeway for an MOT if the car does not have one then it is illegal to drive it and it may invalidate your insurance.

Also the modern APNR cameras link to the DVLA database and it will alert the operator to the fact that there is no MOT.

Postie is totally correct. There is no grace period for MOT's. Once it's expired you either stop driving the car and park it up off the public highway or you can drive it to a pre-booked MOT and only that.
