  1. It should be alright if its taxed, aslong as it isnt moving. Just when you do drive it make sure you get an MOT asap.

  2. as long as its taxed its entitled to be on the highway, when the tax runs out you will then have to declare it sorn

  3. Get it physically off the road and declare it off road.

When you get the money for MOT you can drive it to the test centre and back but put it straight OFF the road until it is taxed.

It cannot stay on the street.

  4. you just gotta get it of the road.............. then BOOK your mot and drive the shortes rout there allowed by law......

  5. It's OK to leave it parked on the road but if it is hit by another vehicle your insurance company can refuse to pay out. Because the vehicle isn't road worthy. If you want to save money then park it off the road and cash in your road tax, also worth asking your insurance company if you can "freeze" your cover for a short while.........

  6. No, it needs an MOT to be driven, It needs tax and insurance to be parked on the road.

  7. The SORN (Statutory Off Road Notification) system applies only to the road tax, so you don't have to do anything when the MoT certificate expires, other than stop driving on a public highway.

If you are going to be off the road for a full calendar month or more though, you might as well send in your tax disk to get a refund.  Doing that WILL require a SORN declaration, and you must not then leave the car parked on a public street.

When the time comes to go back on the road, you are allowed to drive directly to a pre-booked MoT inspection with neither MoT certificate nor tax disk.   This does NOT have to be at the closest available MoT station, however, so if you have a preferred station a few miles away it's fine, just so long as the inspection is pre-booked so that in the event of being stopped en route it can be confirmed that you are driving legally with no MoT/tax.

  8. As long as its stationary and not driven OK  LEGAL

When you go for an MOT  you must prebook first and have proof of appointment ( just in case you get stopped)

and it must be the closest MOT sation near your home address

Please note :   if your car gets hit by a joyrider or insured car driver ....  you have NO MOT  and the insurance company will void any claim  for repairs to your car

Best get an MOT  ASAP just in case

  9. There's a lot of misunderstanding and ignorance about this.

To get it right for you, your car does NOT need a valid MoT to be kept on the road. It needs a valid MoT to be USED on the road. USED is the relevant word here.

You may park your car on the road as long as it is taxed and insured. Lack of MoT does not invalidate your insurance, the only concern the insurance company will have is that the car is roadworthy when used on the road.

When you are ready, book an appointment for an MoT; you may drive to the pre-booked test without MoT as long as the car is roadworthy and insured.

  10. Yeah, declare it as off the road, no mot no insurance.
