Moth Invasion?

This morning when I went to let the dogs out...there were hundreds of moths! At first I thought they were hummingbirds, but then I noticed they were just HUGE moths. Why are there so many around my house? We just had a rain...could that be it? They are very lovely moths though. I've seen them before, but never more than one or two at a time. Why are the attracted to my garden? They all look like they are adults...could they be breeding?
