Ok, I need your help...

I gave my cats kitten away at 10 weeks to a good home.

Before she left she was quite close to her mother cat.

The person I gave the kitten to couldn't keep her and now the little kitten is back home (1 month later).

At first the mother cat was shocked to see her, but since then she keeps hissing at her and will not go near her own little kitten!!

What is going on???

  1. It is perfectly natural for kittens to leave their mother between 7 and 10 weeks of age and generally they will never see each other again. Re-introducing the kitten after a month apart is effectively like bringing in a totally new cat and so the mother is going to become territorial. If you are going to permanently keep the kitten, you need to start the re-introduction by keeping it mainly in one room eg a laundry or spare room and allowing supervised interaction between mother and kitten. Eventually she will accept it but there will be some hissing and swiping etc first; this could take anything from a few days to a few weeks, you must be patient.

  2. she doesnt want the little 1 cuz of that new smell

its like not having nothing to do with ur fam.

  3. If the mother isn't spayed yet you need to get it done. Unspayed females are much more territorial. Actually they should both be altered especially if the kitten is male. They can and WILL mate when old enough.
