This morning the mother tiel flew into the kitchen onto my shoulder and saw me feeding her 3 babies,I can't completely take them away as I have a very busy week coming up ,but all day when she would go into the nest box the babies would cry.I finally looked in on them and caught her biting at their necks and heads.I don't know what to do,they are too young to leave on their own all day when I'm not going to be home but I don't know why she snapped,I believe it's because she saw me feeding them and they are hers.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.Janie

  1. You definitely should call a vet to ask them and if they don't know I'm sure they could recommend someone for you to call. I have had mama cats do this to their kittens. Actually worse but I won't go into it. It makes me sick. It sometimes means they know something is wrong with the babies and are trying to basically end its life. Not sure if same with birds as kittens but I do know that for a fact.

  2. You might have better luck posting this in the Pet section but if the mother is posing an imminent threat I'd separate them from the mother and call a bird expert for advice.
