Mother in law bizarre problem requires advice??

Question

When I see her, she will look at me deeply and examiningly from my face to my waist and back up again a few times. It make

s me squirm and it feels like being checked out. she will then start a head jerking motion in which it appears she is throwing imaginary hair from her face. I understans this is a kind of subconcious jealous thing?? advice on how to handle it best as ignoring it is peeing me off

It does sound like a jealousy thing. Does your husband notice this too?  The next time she does this ask her if you missed a belt loop (or make up something), and if she says no, why?  Because you were staring at me for so long, at my waist etc and I thought I had something really wrong with my clothing.  See how she reacts after.  Good Luck.

Ah yes, the in-laws.  There are so many jokes about them. Please try to create your own special one to fit yours. I think it would be a cracker!

Failing that, depending on her nationality throw a clove of garlic at her.

Seriously, you have my sympathy - try to divert her attention onto something/someone else - even me! cos I am sat here giggling in the UK thinking you are priceless!  Best wishes. UK

This is probably just a jealous phase she is going through.

It will pass in time just as a child passes through various phases.

To her it may seem like you stole her baby boy and she wants to make sure you are good enough for her "baby".

When she gets to know you better she will come around.

Much patience and tact is required when it comes to in laws.
