Mother of millions?

Not even sure if this is what it's called. Plant has broadish flat leaves with jagged edges coming off a main stalk. Reproduces by dropping "babies" off the jags on the leaves. Sorry don't have a picture. Got one from a friend, she knows nothing about them either. ANY information would be appreciated: Where they come from, How to care for, Do they flower, etc... The more you all can tell me the better!
