I am thinking of purchasing a Motherboard that supports 1333FSB, and a Processor chip that supports 1333FSB, but my question is this, if my Ram that i want only goes to 1200FSB or maybe 1066FSB, will it still work on my board running 1333FSB?

Hope ive covered as much as possible lol

Any answers is greatfully received

  1. The FSB numbers are only an indicator of how fast that particular "component" can run.  i.e. max speed

In the case of the RAM if will at it's own capabilities on the MoBo just fine.

    Hope this helps.

  2. It all depends on what board you buy.  Each board will have a certain type of ram it can use.

  3. Yes it will, the board speed is the maximum it will run at and the hardware installed can also be that clock speed too. Memory is backwards compatible so you could put 1333mhz memory in the board and it will automatically down-clock to match the settings of other hardware installed. However it is not forwards compatible, in other words if you are running a processor that has to run at 1333mhz on the front side bus (FSB) you would not be able to run memory that only runs at 1066mhz and expect it to run at 1333mhz. Either it will not boot at all, or the cpu would only show up as being a slower speed than it actually is.Need more help ? contact me on my Private 360 profile email
