I have this motherboard http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=K8MM-V

And as for its RAM it says:

"Main Memory:

•

Supports two 184-pin DDR SDRAMs up to 2GB memory size

• Supports DDR400*/DDR333/DDR266 DDR SDRAM (*Refer to MSI recommended modules)

• Note: PC3200 (DDR400) maximum 4 banks (2 double-sided) only"

Does this mean that the motherboard supports only 2GB in TOTAL or PER STICK? You can just follow the link to read more about it...

  1. when it says up to they are referring to maximum for total capacity, not per ram card

  2. 2 GB Total.

If it could support 2 GB each, then it would say upto 4 GB.

  3. Hmm, that's a tough one, could be read either way. For my money I'd say that 2gb is your limit in total memory, meaning that each slot is maxed out at 1gb each. If you look to the right of the picture it says "2 DIMMs w/ DDR 400 upto 2 GB"  That tells me right there your limit in total is 2gb...

  4. it means that the maximum ram u can put in total is 2 Gb and not a stick of 2GB..

SO if u put two sticks of 2 Gb each it will only detect 2 Gb and not 4 Gb..

I guess u should go for DDR2 RAm boards..they are a lot faster..And DDR2 rams are cheap too.

  5. it can support a max of a 2 GB Stick, so you can have 6 GB of Ram ^^

    hope this helps

  6. It means your motherboard can support a total of 2GB RAM. So you can have 2x1GB sticks or 1x2GB stick.

  7. This board will actually support two 2GIG sticks, but you would need a 64bit xp edition to actually read all 4 GIGS of memory. It's best to have just 2 1GIG sticks if you are running a 32bit XP edition.
