The computer would occassional shut down. The screen goes to sleep mode. Noticed also the harddrive would still be on. Left the computer as is for some time. (about six months)
Then had a real close look at the motherboard and found 1,500 mF caps (about seven of them) around the CPU bulged and dried up electrolyte on the top of the caps.
This could have contributed to the supply being loaded and shut off to certain part of the board, quite possibly the processor.
I am looking for a new board. The HP support site gives the description of the board as P4G-LA (Corolla) for the US/CAN market. But the actual board in the computer is TriGem 129504 (Imperial). I can not locate the supplier nor the factory. Can somebody please help.
