Motherboard problems?

Thanks guys, I just bought a SA hard drive and installed it, I have set everything to default (which includes the jumpers), I have connected the dvd drive and the SATA hard drive, I have even set the bios to default settings, the only problem I have got now is that I am trying to install XP to the computer and it reaches the windows setup which is loading files, but stays there for a while, so I am wondering if this is still to do with the hardware is is this a software problem now?

Thanks

  1. What do you mean by 'stays there for a while'? XP setup always takes a while to load, so thats nothing unusual. Be aware that you may need to create a floppy disk with your HDD controller drivers on it for use during the XP installation, otherwise it may not recognise your SATA drive.

  2. uhm, i have a similar problem. when i tried to install vista on my hardrive, it didnt work and it said that there was a error due to hard drive failure? im not sure, but i cant install vista on my hard drive, so maybe that might be the same problem for you? im going to replace the hard drive and try it again.
