Well my sister just had twins and they haven't been sleeping alot. She is not breast feeding either. She uses Enfamil. She is going to call her doctor, but she is currently out of town so I was wondering what some mothers think!

  1. i didnt have no problem with ENFAMIL.. that is one of the best products to use out there for babys. but then again, try changing the formula for one day and see how they sleep.

also, try burping them more often. they could feel a little gassy from undigested milk that may cause tummy aches.... or get on a schedule for washing them up. some babys need the "same time" schedule bcuz they know right after feeding, its bath then bed.... maybe its where they sleep...my son had a custom made crib that a month after wondering why he NEVER slept in it as well as he slept with me, did i find out he did NOT like the mattress....

IN OTHER WORDS... it could be ANYTHING & EVERYTHING the parent is doing.... pretty much TRY EVERYTHING & ANYTHING, bcuz no person knows, sees & feels as much as mommy & daddy do in those type of situations

    GOOD LUCK

  2. I'm sorry, but your weren't specific enough for me. Is your question regarding their sleeping habits or the formula they're on?

  3. Each baby is different and it could possibly be because of the formula. Formulas are packed with iron which could cause the poor thing to become constipated but I was told my my daughters doctor that the good far outweighs the bad when it comes to the iron. Try mylacon gas drops for infants. This can help alleviate some of the uncomfortable feelings they are having. definitely do not give them formula without iron. whoever said that was completely wrong. Its best to call the pediatrician to be sure nothing else is going on. Newborns normally tend to sleep the majority of the day.

  4. my newborn daughter didnt sleep much. people (including docs) are fast to switch formula as a fix all...but it doesnt fix all. it is not always the problem.

I had a picky baby and she settled on Nestle good start if that helps

But babies dont always sleep alot and they are often fussy, so perhaps they are just showing their personalities!

  5. my son had alot of problems on enfamil, but sleep wasnt one of them. he had solid poo and was projectile vomiting almost an entire feeding every time he ate. we switched him and it solved our problems but his sleep patterns didnt change. babies go through so many sleep changes that this could be due to ANYTHING... if sleep is the only problem then unfortunatley she may have to just suck it up...

  6. Babies digestive system is still very sensitive so breast milk is better. If you use formula, use formula without iron. Iron is only for babies that are older and may be anemic. Babies sometimes have their days and nights mix up. In time, they will get it straight.

  7. What do you mean by, "haven't been sleeping alot"? Newborns typically wake up every 2 hours or so to feed.  Could you be more specific?

edited to add: Perhaps they are going through a normal growth spurt and need to eat more often.
