Question:

Mothers - How Many Kids Did It Take For Your Bladder To Vacate Your Body????

I have been pregnant with 4 children, and I cannot find my bladder anywhere.

Maybe it's just me, but it's been nearly 4 months since my babies on the left were born, and I literally run to the toilet more now than I did when I was pregnant.

Those pelvic floor exercises need to kick in soon.

  1. I am 27 weeks pregnant with my third, my son was only born 18 months ago......my bladder is definitely copping a hammering..........I haven't needed to cross my legs when I sneeze yet, but I HAVE to concentrate hard if I do so I don't have a little accident. I really hope my bladder can return after this child.........I hate having a bladder if a 2 month old baby and peeing every 15 Min's, lol.

  2. Ive had one child almost 9 months ago and I cant hold my pee anymore, I drink anything and im peeing 100 times, its terrible.. Id hate to know how it is after 4 kids.. : [  kEagles here I come!!

  3. lol. I have friends that can relate.

I had twins by c-section and I don't know whether that matters but I have never had a problem with the bladder. But nearly all my friends in my mums group have that problem. They are always off to the toilet.

I did the exercises through my pregnancy. At my first ante-natal group at 13 weeks pregnant the health nurse said a great way to remmeber to do them was to do it at every red light you stop at. A great suggestion. After the birth the physio came round and asked how things were. I could "hold" it as long as I wanted. They also could not find the gap in the band in your stomach. So as you know with twins you are busy enough so from that moment I did no more exercises. If I had time for exercises I would use it for sleep lol. So good for you for keeping them up. Get checked at the doc next time you go tho incase it is a prolapse. sometimes No amount of exercises can help.

Hows things in Tassie today? bloody cold in Melbourne, Lots of snow happening which is great but don't think we have a chance to get there before school goes back.

  4. yep, im part of the 'My Bladder Has Vacated My Body' club!

My youngest is 5 and i still can't cough, sneeze, laugh or jump with a full bladder..

panty liners are my best friend :P

  5. LOL.......happy to know I am in good company. LOL! 4 children did it for me too!

My urologist put me on a machine that does keegles for you. She called it the "o****m" machine! Didn't do a thing for me in ANY way!

Surgery is scheduled for August! Sell your stock in Always panti-liners folks! LOL

  6. My sister actually had to have surgery to have her bladder tacked back in place after her 3rd baby. Shes had it done 2 times since but she is now in her 60's. The doctor told her it was from chldbirth.

  7. I am currently pregnant with baby #13 & #14.

After about baby, 4 or 5 i think is when i lost my bladder.

I know there are certainly operations avaliable to try fix this up - it can definately be a hassle.

Good luck! I hope the pelvic floor exercises work for you, they didnt for me; but mind you; i did have another 7 kids after that!

    Cate.

  8. After my 4th child

There's only 14 months between her & the one before her.

I dont think my insides had a chance to heal

It got worse after I had my 5th

There's 16 months between her & my fourth, so I think the time factor had something to do with it.

The pelvic floor did jack all!

I'm sure there is damage somewhere there

Can't seem to hold on as much as I used to be able to.

  9. Hey Charli. Pelvic floor exercises are great for strengthening and stopping leakage but you might need to actually re-train your bladder, which is different. You need to try holding on a little longer each time you need to go. This helps your bladder learn to hold greater volume before you need to go.

The Physio at my hospital said to test out your pelvic floor muscles, after 3 months since birth, you should try doing a star jump and coughing with a full bladder. If you don't have a problem holding it in, then your pelvic floor is good.

The problem I have after having my first baby with 2 lots of forceps (1 to turn him and 1 to get him out), is when I need to empty my bowels, I can't hold on the way I used to. The things we do to our bodies having our babes hey? After 2 sets of twins? I can't even imagine!

  10. i understand fully.  i have 4 kids under 5 and my bladder is shocking.  Its only really got bad since my 4th baby was born 4mths ago. I feel like im always on the toilet.  What us women have to go through!!
