My grandmother and my mother, both, suffer from high blood pressure and high cholesterol, I don't but since it runs in the family i will not eat anything with high sodium or cholesterol in it! Can you just give me an idea of what to get. this is what i ahve so far:

1-bread

2- brown rice

3- browan sugar

4- fish [but what kind of fish?]

5- cereal

6- milk

7- bagel

8- cream cheese

9- yogurt

10- apples

11- strawberries

12- blue berries [if i can find any]

13- black berries [once again if i can find any!]

14- banana [it has potassium, there for helping with lack of sodium]

15- celery

16- brocoli

  1. You are forgetting protein, turkey, chicken, eggs.  You can die if you don't eat protein to keep your heart and muscles healthy.  I use ground turkey all the time.  You have to learn to season it, and put a lid on it to keep it moist.  It is cheap, and better than red meats.

Your list is good, but keep with 100% whole grain bread, and pasta.

Stay away from too many pickles and olives.  They have too much salt.  Many thing have bad sweeteners and additives which are bad, read your labels.

  2. What a great list...I dont think I could have come up with a better one and I have the same shopping situation. Great Job.

  3. Get some:

    Chicken

Fish (fresh is best - Haddock is inexpensive, cod is great)

Lean ground beef (you can make some nice soups with dried beans and beef)
