  1. get on of those sticky things that hang from the ceiling. those work good.

  2. 1.  Freeze your clothes in the freezer--protect them in plastic bags--for at least 3 days to kill any moths or eggs on them.  To be sure, thaw them for one day and freeze again for 3 more days.  If they don't have any metal bits, you can also microwave garments for 10 seconds, instead.  Dry cleaning supposedly also kills them.

Also, vacuum the whole area super thoroughly, and throw out the vacuum bag immediately.

    2. Diatomaeous earth, boric acid, or one of the pet-safe sprays, for example at www.planetnatural.com will control (read:kill) moths and future larvae in your closet without making your clothes toxic.  Be sure and get the stuff into cracks, baseboards, etc.--they hide there.

    3.  Essential oils like lavender, cedar, peppermint, thyme, rosemary, eucalyptus and a few others will 'repel' moths (as in, if they're hungry enough, they'll chomp your clothes anyway), but they do work fairly well--I use them for my yarn stash--and you can add a few drops to a little vodka to make a spray.

    Good luck!

  3. besides cedar chips, moths hate the smell of peppermint and lavender.  Mix a couple of drops of essential oils of peppermint and lavender, and put a few drops on cotton balls then place them in the closet.  You should see a decrease in a short time

  4. Get a bag of Cedar chips.  Or they also sell cedar hangers.  The chips are better, the more you have the better off you are.  Also, go to your local drycleaner and get some moth proof laundry bags.  Wrap your really good, expensive clothes in these.

If you have an existing problem. Remove all of your clothes (from the closet), clean them or brush them thoroughly.  Get a tube of caulk and seal any visible cracks or holes in the closet, don't forget about near the floors.

  5. Use your shop vac to suck them up and empty it outside.  Use essential oil of lavender, a few drops sprinkled on a cotton ball placed in the corner of the closet will repel moths.  Make sure you have any garments that could be damaged by the larva thoroughly cleaned.
