Moths chewing holes in clothes and fabric?

i noticed lately ive had pin sized holes in my shirts and blankets and ive also noticed strange moths that have wings facing almost dierectly up while resting ( kind of like the flood from halo ) are they connected

  1. Get some cedar to put in the areas you store your clothes. Moths hate it, and it's much safer to use than mothballs, and your cloths won't smell like an old person's. They sell cedar in the stores, blocks and such, just for this use.


  2. Clothes moths are small and buff colored and are seldom seen but it is their larva that eat clothes and bedding.  They like dark undisturbed places like closets or boxes of clothes.  Clothes you wear often are seldom attacked.  You would do well to take everything out of the closet and vacuum all the crevices really well and shake out all the clothes.  Airing and sunning things will help.  Dry cleaning before storing things helps.  Store things clean in air tight bags to protect them.  You can spray around the closet with an insecticide containing pyrethrum, but you wouldn't want to spray that on your clothes.  Cedar repels them if it is concentrated enough, as in a cedar chest.
