Motivation at its peak - Ross Brawn and Michael Schumacher (Part 3)
Since Mercedes GP has decided to shift their focus on the 2011 season car, the team has directed its budget along with labour more towards the 2011 season rather than this season since the team has lost all hope this season. The team hopes to get back to
the top just as they did in 2009 as the reigning champions are currently downsizing in order to attain better results. The main reason for the seven-time world champion’s failure according to the team principal for Mercedes, Ross Brawn is the front tires of
the Mercedes as Bridgestone has failed to produce a good tyre this year.
The Formula 1 profession Eddie Jordan predicted that Michael Schumacher would retire by the end of this season. Brawn stated that this was definitely not true because the German did not return to Formula 1 for nothing and it is hard to believe that he would
leave Formula 1 without achieving anything.
Jordan asked if Ross Brawn would leave Mercedes by the end of the season and Ross replied by saying he did want to retire one day but not in a situation like this. The team principal wants to retire when he is successful and that is not happening right now.
Brawn is still motivated enough to go to work every day. However, the team principal will retire one day and hand over the team to someone else.
Ross Brawn does not know whether Michael Schumacher would be keen enough to take over the team after Ross Brawn. They have not talked about such an option yet but Michael is an intelligent man with a balanced social life. Being a team principal is very different
as you do not get the same adrenaline rush as compared to driving a Formula 1 car. Brawn thinks that Michael will not be satisfied with a 10-12-hour workday.
The team principal was disappointed and sad that such rumours would come around. Yes, the team is disappointed with its performance and everyone wants to know when the team will be back on track. However, it is not important to win every race and nobody
has the right to tell Ross Brawn that. Ross hopes to improve the relationship between Brackley and the Mercedes engine factory soon but Mercedes is still open to all sorts of suggestions. Therefore, there are no problems whatsoever at the moment and the team
will improve and win if they are able to improve the car up to their requirements.
Ross Brawn clearly stated that he would never want to leave the team in an unclear situation as the team they have gone through many things together. Next year is probably too early, as Brawn likes this team however; he does not want to do this job when
he is 65 years-old. Bernie Ecclestone has set a very high benchmark and Brawn does not think that he is as highly productive as Bernie has been.
The Formula 1 universe has been expecting the return of Ross Brawn and Michael Schumacher’s team since a long time but the fans were disappointed this year, as Mercedes was not able to give a strong performance as compared to their marvellous run last year
to win both titles comfortably.
Mercedes along with the seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher have tried their best before they decided to quit their focus on this season and start focussing on the future. Schumacher has been struggling a lot with the car making excuses that the
car was suitable for Jenson Button’s likings and Michael is not used to understeer.
However, we are talking about Michael Schumacher. His younger teammate Nico Rosberg was suffering from the same problems as well but he managed to outperform the 41 year old at almost every race. Mercedes will have to think twice before making such decisions
as these sort of decisions can risk their chances again for another year.
