Question:

Motivation tips for getting up early to go running?

I'm the worst at getting up early for anything, but I really want to start running in the morning. It's the only time of day I'd have a chance to go running. I keep sleeping in though. Any tips on how to get my butt outta bed and into my running shoes?

Thanks!!

  1. dont think, when the alarm goes off, just jump in your shoes and get out the door, that s the hardest part. also challenge yourself to run everyday. when you have a streak of consecutive days, you'll be motivated to not break the streak.....it worked for me 1800 days

  2. You'll lose more weight if you run in the morning before breakfast - according to my trainer.

  3. You should read this blog regularly

If you are lacking motivation, then its for you..

    Its good

    good luck

  4. Somewhere out there, somebody who is more busier than you, is running.

    Good luck!

  5. One thing that helps me is the Adam Carolla show. I look forward to listening to it in the morning so when my alarm goes off I sort of get excited to listen to it, thats enough to get my butt up and out the door.

Or promise your self a good breakfast after running?

  6. Running in the morning will help you get going for the day. You'll feel better, work better, think better...etc. Also, your testosterome levels (even in women) are higher in the morning (2-6 am), making the benefits for exercising in the am much greater. Remember, it's just that first push out of bed that's the hardest. Get someone to wake you up!

  7. I agree it is very difficult to get out of bed early in the morning. So I'll list the reasons I get up early for a run which I have to remind myself regularly (and hope they help you too):

    1. It's a peaceful time outside.

    2. No other distractions on my time.

    3. Good time to think about the day ahead.

    4. I feel lucky to see the sun rise as I run. I love that view.

    5. When I get back, I enjoy my breakfast even more - feel like I've earned it!

    6. There is a certain positive energy that I get after achieving my run. I feel more awake than I would do from any other day which is a great feeling.

    7. If I sleep through, I regret missing the 6 things above.
