After reading Wiggysans Shinya beats Dovi question. and while we have a rather long summer break.

What are your thoughts on Bautista. where will Alvaro be in 09.

will he do another 250 round. perhaps to get a championship. Though I still think he could do this year. But so could the top 7.

I think everyone thought he would just move up. but to where ?

  1. Alvaro goes where the Master Team tell him to go !!!

I for one would like to him get out of the 250's for 09 and move up to the blue ribbon class.

There has been talks of Aspar taking over the whole Alice Team as an on going concern now that they dont even have a team manger anymore.

If that does happen, it will be bye bye Sylvain Guintoli.

Aspar will keep Toni, keep half the sponsor and bring over the whole " Master " set up with him.

That would be a fantastic team. Very pro.

On the flip side of that coin, there has been rumors about Aspar taking to Suzuki for a satalite bike ..........

  2. I think you hit the nail head with your last comment 'but to where'

From what I can gather listening to Eurosport and reading the comic, Aspar has tried all the manufacturers to get a bike for Bautista and has constantly been knocked back apart from some weird offer by Kawasaki whereby Aspar front's up the money, but the bike is run from the existing Team Green setup.

Then there is the rumours that having seen Melandri's woe's on the Duke that Bautista want's no part of it, so unless someone else is out of a job at the end of the year I think he'll be staying where he is for now.

  3. Hes talented, hope he can iron out some of the errors, (last lap at Catalyunia...) Good chance at the 250 title, 4 poles 2 wins so far, I think.

Dunno if there will be any good spare rides next year but a 3rd year at 250cc level..... getting at a  bit of a crossroads

  4. Hi Proc

The kid has definitely got talent. When he got the 125 title I was thinking Rossiesque talent! But as has been pointed out, he tends to make a few too many mistakes. Then again, so did a certain Mr Stoner.

I reckon he will move up next year. There'll be a seat at Scott Honda, Alice Ducati and probably Kawasaki. I'm sure he could have the pick of those. What would be the best for him? Hmm.........The sensible choice would be Honda. But the Ducati must surely be capable of being tamed by someone else......could Alvaro be that someone? And Kawasaki showed such promise last year, if they get that bike sorted (the screamer engine could still appear) then maybe team green would be a shrewd move.

I don't envy the lad. It's gonna be a tough choice for him. My money would go on the Honda.

Edit: Yeh thats a possibility I suppose. I'm not sure Yuki's ready to step up though. 9th at the moment, addmittedly on an underpowered machine. But so was Dovi and look what he managed. Yuki's best positions have been a 3rd & 4th...........is it enough? Maybe, but I'm still not sure. Alvaro would be a far better catch for team and sponsors alike. At the end of the day it will be up to Alvaro I suppose.
