MotoGP, first official test starts off at Sepang
The first, three-day official test session, ending on February 3rd, 2011, will be held at Sepang International Circuit (SIC).
Barring weather conditions, pre-season tests have three sessions of three-days each. The first two will be carried out in Sepang and the final test will commence on March 13-14 at Losail, Qatar.
2011 season will mark its start on March 20 from Qatar. Sepang is due to host the penultimate event of this season on Oct. 21-23.
Datuk Ahmad Razlan Razali, chief executive officer, of Sepang International Circuit (SIC) said:
“The new season looks set to be the most exciting ever.
There is Lorenzo with the new Yamaha liveries and it will be interesting to see prospective strong rivals Rossi and Stoner with their new teams.
Also in the challenge this season is Ben Spies, who took over from Rossi at Yamaha Racing. There is also Moto2 champion Toni Elias.
All of them have the potential and very capable of challenging the current world champion Lorenzo”.
Datuk, also confirmed that Sepang will open its Grandstand doors for the fans to see riders in full practice sessions. This season will be interesting for enthusiasts to watch their stars in action on their mean machines after some major driver shuffling.
World champion 2010, Jorge Lorenzo is excited to race with his new team mate, Rookie of the Year 2010, Ben Spies. Lorenzo will appear with his new number, designed out of his name initials JL. He has changed his number from 99 to 1.
Rossi has not yet recovered from his injuries, after last year’s accident, but the Italian driver with an Italian team is gathering great attention. Rossi is feeling the pressure to produce a high octane performance with his new team in his full red Ducati and Marlboro colours. Rossi has moved to Ducati after spending seven seasons with Yamaha.
