Thinking if Nicky Hayden goes to Ducati next season.

Who would you replace him with.

I have to think Dovizioso. but I also have to look at Nakano who alongside Rossi is the only rider to score points in all the races so far. or is there someone from WSBK or AMA ?

  1. Hi Proc ,Dovi would be a perfect choice and their is word that Bautista is going up to the big guns maybe he like Pedrosa would make a good Honda rider he his mad enough as we have seen this season on the 250s , But they keep mentioning Sete is he going to make a come back after all he at that time was the only one who could keep up to Rossi but wether he could handle the young guns who knows

  2. Hi Proc

I think that Dovi taking Nicky's place at Repsol is a "done deal".

I know Shinya is good rider (scoring points in all races so far, albeit low points) and that you like Japanese riders in general, but I think he'll be lucky to stay in Motogp next year. Personally, I'd like to see him go back to Kawasaki (I feel his natural home). As wiggysan has already said: "bye bye Ant West".

It will be interesting to see if Nicky can tame the Red beast. It's not something I'd like to predict. Most people thought that Marco was a possible champion pre season!

Of course its all just speculation. But it seems like a bit of an open secret.

  3. I agree with your choice - Dovizioso, but I don't think he will switch teams. He came to MotoGP with these guys, so why leaving them after all they've been through?!

I would prefer Alex to go to Repsol Honda. I really like him and he would do so good with a better team, we have to admit it that the Greshini Honda team is not the best one.

and what about Ben? he needs a team... a good one. I don't think the Suzuki team will give him what he needs.

I still think it is early for predictions. After the summer break more things will be clear.

    edit:

well yeah, Nakano is a good rider and he is already riding a Honda so it would be easy for him to ride for the Repsol Honda team. I preferred not to include him just because I like Alex better. Nakano for me is like a random rider I don't pay attention to. I never got attracted to him, never saw him ride in a way that would have me screaming and jumping and hoping for him...but being honest, I could say the same even for riders like Loris who I just don't find entertaining at this point.

  4. I think Dovizioso would be the best choice for Repsol Honda, he has always been a honda man and is one of the best riders out there at the moment (just look at last year where he pushed lorenzo for the 250 title on an outdated bike).

As for Nicky going to Ducati next year, I think he should ride the bike befroe signing as there seems to be only one person in the world who can ride it properly at the moment (Casey Stoner), just look at Melandris results on it, he is a previous rossi beater and he struggles to get a top 10 finish (melandri would be another good rider for the repsol team)

Although I like Nicky Hayden as a rider and a person, I really don't think he is in the same league as Stoner and rossi.the only riders I think are good enough to beat them are Pedrosa, Dovizioso and lorenzo (who I dislike as much as rossi).I think the world champions for the next five years will be between Stoner, Pedrosa,Dovizio and lorenzo, rossi's time is over and the young guns are hungry.

  5. I can think of a few riders who are unhappy with their current ride who might have a style well suited to the Ducati, just as Stoner is. Vermeulen having a similar background although having taken a different route into the big league I think could make the Ducati work in his favour. The fact that he seems to be on a fine line with Suzuki could also work in his favour. And another even though he is getting a bit long in the tooth (Apologies to him) Edwards is a man who needs a bike under him that truely works. He has done a brilliant job on the Tech3 this year I think but give him something with some more top end and he will be on the podium.

PS Good to see some people actually getting into the Motogp in a forum type style.

  6. Definately Dovizioso , he has come on in leaps and bounds and he seems to have the balls to take on the big boys as such. The more he rides the more he is learning and he is such a talented rider , he reminds me of a younger Rossi with a bit of attitude and risk taking ability....

  7. well...Dovi,

    i don't think so

    Randy de Puniet

    maybe......

  8. I too would like to see Dovi given the chance -

He has proven well all season so far -

he's been right up there with the pace and in

    some good scraps too !

But again, not forgetting Ben of course -

someone has to have their eye on him

    - Don't they ??

  9. Dove has been loyal to HRC and I think they will repay him with the bike orange bike !

Dovi has shown great for this year. Very impressive, not just for a rookie, but all round, good performance's.

Crash still reports on Sete coming back from Bruno onwards : http://www.crash.net/motorsport/motogp/n... & http://www.crash.net/motorsport/motogp/n...

I really think the Ducati will suit Nicky as he likes to wrestle the  bike, and with Ducati been more aggreable to letting down the electrics and allowing the bike to slide more, it should suit Nicky to a tee.

Roll on the Kid in Red for 09.

    ......... Roll on 2009 while we're at it !!!
