MotoGP Goes To Brno This Weekend
This season of the MotoGP has proven to be another exceptional season, with a whole lot of entertainment for the fans. However, the fans had to wait for three long weeks, after the halfway point for the action to resume.
The riders have finally reached Brno, with determination to perform better than before. There is still a long way to go before the end of this season, and thus there are still chances for riders to improve their standing.
The teams are already set up in Brno, and currently giving the final touches to their bikes. Everyone has an eye on the current leader, Jorge Lorenzo, as the chase would begin this weekend for his position. The Spaniard has a healthy lead on top of the table; however, he will always have to be cautious of the other riders around him.
Lorenzo comes back into action with a healthy lead of 72 points. He has shown phenomenal form during the season, due to which he has been sailing through with ease. However, Lorenzo would definitely have some bad memories attached to this particular grand prix in the Czech Republic.
Last year, he was competing with Valentino Rossi, on this track, but ended up crashing under pressure. The Spaniard would be determined to win on the weekend, although, he has never won a Premium Class race here. His bike has already been tremendous throughout the season, so with a slightly cautious approach, he could possibly win.
Lorenzo has an exceptional record this season. He has won six, while coming second in three races, so far. If he manages to get another spot in the first two, he would balance out the 62 year old record.
In the meanwhile, Lorenzo’s teammate and previous winner of the tournament, Valentino Rossi would adopt a slightly different approach. Originally, Rossi was scheduled to come back from his devastating injury for this particular race. However, he ended up participating in two grand prix races right before this one.
After using the previous races to improve his form Rossi would be in a position to gain an even better result this time, maybe even second place. There is no doubt that Rossi knows this track very well, as he has won five races here. The Italian had three weeks of much needed rest and would be in good shape at Brno.
Dani Pedrosa, the second place rider, had a poor race in Laguna. He was leading the race for quite a while, and his bike looked as though it was in good shape as well. But as Lorenzo put a little pressure, Pedrosa crashed, giving Lorenzo a healthy lead on top of the table. He would be looking to repeat his performances of the last two races, but now make the same mistakes he did at Laguna Seca. For a win in Brno, Pedrosa has to maintain his concentration levels no matter what.
Unlike Dani Pedrosa, his teammate, Andrea Dovizioso’s has continued to drop with the progress of the season. Dovizioso finished some races on podium, but seemed to have lost his flare towards the later half. He would be determined to retain his third place in the standings though, while Casey Stoner is going to be chasing him for that position.
Stoner did not participate in this race, last year. However, he won the grand prix of Brno in 2007, which speaks of his familiarity with the track. This time around, Stoner would be going for another win. He has not been able to taste victory this season sadly, but in the last few races Stoner has shown consistency as he finished the last four races on the podium. His team has shown a lot of hard work and dedication throughout the season, and now the time has come to see the fruits of this hard labour. The Australian would definitely be chasing victory this weekend.
The final half of the season would be very interesting, as riders would be pushed to their very limits. The remaining races would be a test of nerves, as many riders tend to choke under pressure. At this moment, the experience of riders like Rossi and Nicky Hayden would come in handy for them.
