MotoGP Race Directions call upon Marco Simoncelli to be cautious in future – MotoGP news
MotoGP Race Directions convened San Carlo Honda Gresini rider Marco Simoncelli at the Circuit de Catalunya and impressed upon him to be cautious in future Grand Prix after his French GP accident.
Simoncelli was accompanied by Team Principal Fausto Gresini. They both were present at the meeting with IRTA riders’ safety delegate to discuss in detail the incident occurred between Marco Simoncelli and Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda at the Monster Energy
Grand Prix de France.
The mishap ended with the retirement of Dani Pedrosa with a fractured collarbone and Super Sic was dropped from second place in the race after being charged with ‘ride through’ penalty. Pedrosa will miss his home event since he is still recovering from injuries.
The surgery helped him to rehabilitate from the fracture but the healing was not as quick as anticipated by the doctors.
The meeting was arranged to give a chance to both teams to express their views about the incident. During the official meeting, the Italian rider was humble to apologise and accepted his involvement in the accident. Before his appearance in front of the
Race Directions at the Catalan circuit, Simoncelli had regretted the Le Mans accident.
He also felt disappointed about the fact that Pedrosa will not be able to participate in his home race. The Italian was also clear about his future plans that he will be more cautious and try to evaluate the situation in a better way.
The Race Direction members ensured at the meeting that Marco Simoncelli will avoid any kind of act which depicts the Le Mans accident and take the situation in more professional manner for future races. This was also to increase the safety factor for the
fellow MotoGP riders.
In a pre-race interview, Simoncelli was found uncertain about the reaction of the Barcelona crowd, as their hometown MotoGP idol will miss the second Spanish event due to him. In reply, Jorge Lorenzo’s suggestion for the home crowd was to accept his apology
and give him a warm welcome to the event.
