MotoGP riders Ben Spies, Colin Edwards help raise funds for charity – MotoGP news
MotoGP class riders of Yamaha Factory Racing Ben Spies and Monster Yamaha Tech3 Colin Edwards joined hands with Yamaha Motor Corporation to raise funds for charity called Feed the Children.
Both the American riders will auction their racing gears in order to help raise funds for the cause.
General Manager of National Communications for Yamaha, Bob Starr said, “Both Ben and Colin are tremendously popular with American race fans and all of us at Yamaha are proud that they have donated both their time and their gear to such a worthy cause and
to see them both on the GE stage together at this years’ Red Bull U.S. GP will surely be a treat for all the fans, especially the winning bidders!”
The auction was started with a bid on Yamaha Factory’s Texan star Ben Spies a.k.a. ‘The Texan Terror.’ Spies humbly donated his factory racing gear including leathers, gloves and boots made by Alpinestars racing.
The second package was offered by veteran American premier class rider of Monster Yamaha Tech3, Colin Edwards. ‘The Texan Tornado’ provided his complete racing leathers used by him in the MotoGP races. The gear included leathers, helmet, boots and gloves.
The bid winners will have other benefits to avail. The benefits include a pair pass of general admission for three days to the race weekend for the Red Bull US Grand Prix, scheduled to take place from July 22 – 24, 2011. The race will be held at the Mazda
Raceway Laguna Seca. The winners will also be provided with three days of hotel accommodation for the event and the passes will be accessible for the paddock area.
The package winners will also have the privilege to get up on the stage on Saturday evening during the GE-sponsored concert. There the winning bidders will directly receive signed leathers from the two MotoGP stars, Ben Spies and Colin Edwards.
