Question:

Motocross GP coverage?

Why do you think the Motocross magazines ( Dirtbike, Motocross Action, etc.) don't cover the GP series? They used to cover it when I was a kid back in the 80's. I think it's as, if not more interesting than the supercross and outdoor nationals.

  1. The fact of the matter is that the US motocross magazines have an enormous sense of pride in the US series', keep in mind, they were around when it started. (Dirt Bike, Motocross Action). You'll notice that neuvo-riche magazines like RacerX do indeed cover the Euro series more than any other publication does. Also, the magazines are very vocal in announcing that they believe that the GP series is poorly run and mismanaged. Also, consider how many foreign riders we have that come here. Basically, the AMA series is an international series. IT has gained in poularity ten-fold over the GP series.

  2. They do cover them, however they don't follow them that closely...Most magazines are selling to riders here in the states that do not know/or have interest in the GP series...They have to sell content, and add space, and I think the GP series just gets squeezed out somewhere in between.

I try and follow it on the web...

Check out the Canadian National Series...I am not a huge fan of SX myself, outdoor is where its at...

    See ya at the track.
