  1. You are most likely over griping when you ride, but there is a few things you can do to help prevent it from happening.  Firstly hydrate before you race.  Try to relax and not over grip.  If you have your levers slightly higher that is also meant to help and failing that you could try putting a damper on the bike (if you don't already have one).  A damper really helps to keep the bike on track and you don't have to over grip and can relax a lot more.  It would certainly be worth a try instead of surgery.

  3. Loosen up! put in consistant laps, when possible relax your hands. If you have ever noticed almost all the pros loosen up ther grip when in the air. Ride laps, change your work out some workouts hurt you.

Relax, Consistant Laps, Loosen grip when you have a chance.

  4. Auburn hit the nail on the head. You are gripping too tight. The key is understanding that you hold and control the bike with your legs and knees, not you arms and hands. My trainer makes me run laps with my left arm behind my back to force me to use my legs. I don't recommend this technique to anyone but very advanced racers, but you get the point. Also, working out is great but nothing takes the place of seat time. Ride as much as possible. Remember, elbows up at all times and grip with your legs and knees.

  5. you need to learn to relax... squeeze all you want you are not going to crush the handlebars......hang on just tight enough to keep them from slipping out of your grip..... tighter of course when you are landing and thru the rhythm section... practice riding with a looser grip to see where else you can relax... it is something you have to think about the first few weeks  then after a while it will become secondnature
