Motocross lifestyle?

This is my first season but I really do want to succeed and become one of the top amatuer riders in the UK in a few years time. I'm not bragging but I KNOW it's within me to get good, my dad's good and everything else we do i'm better than him at lmao so it gives me a spark of light to aim for.

So now i'm constantly working more on fitness and strength, watching DVDs, videos and clips, working on my bike etc for the next weekend's racing, this is how h**l-bent I am now to succeed quickly in my first season as it's now mid-way through

However i've got a few distractions in the way such as my xbox 360 (i end up on it quite a lot when there are other things I could do doing to aid me more like), so do u recommend I sell this if I really do want to fully concentrate on the things I stated earlier?

thanks

  2. Really, i think you should keep the xbox, cuz it kinda sounds like you're doing something you don't want to do, I race motocross, and if I had somewhere to ride it at my house, I would ride it 24/ 7, and i would probably never play video games again... but there is no way that your going to become one of the top amatuers in the uk if you'd rather be playing xbox.  and it sounds like you need to be on your bike more, i mean watching dvds is great, but you'd progress faster if you just practice, i mean i've never watched a mx dvd in my life, and i finish in the top 5 every time, and this is my first year racing.  So, race motocross if you want to, but if you enjoy other things more, simply don't.  Sorry can't help you change what you like to do.  Its all mental (in your head)

  3. I agree with Chase. If you want it badly enough an XBOX would not distract you. Selling the XBOX isn't going to change your level of desire to excel at motocross. It is a great goal to want to be the best, I used to feel that way also. What I found was that once I had a couple state championships under my belt and a descent national ranking, people started expecting more out of me, I expected more out of myself, and soon it became more of a job than something I enoyed. I finally reached a point where I just gave it up for a few years and became a musician instead. The moral of the story is just to enjoy yourself.

  4. just gain experience and keep focussed and u can do it!

  5. I totally agree with Kato and Chase!  I know what it is like to have a teenager who is h**l bent on racing motorcross and supercross and also have many comparisons as to levels of interest due to his friends around him and also his older brother.  If he had to choose between riding in a heatwave, riding in a blizzard or playing the xbox, the heatwave and blizzard and his motorbike would win every time.  He would ride morning, noon and night if we let him.

So you may well enjoy the sport but trust me there are others who take it that step further and it is more than an enjoyment, more like an obsession.

If you think that selling the xbox will help keep you motivated then sell it, but I think you have a bigger issue in your life that perhaps your dad wants it more than you.

  6. sellin ur xbox aint going to do anything for u. Make sure you can handle the motocross lifestyle, cause to be a top amatuer rider you have to be able to travel all around the U.K. which takes money and you have to be really dedicated to ride through all the pain you will have to deal with, be on the road, which means you will be away from your family and friend alot. You also have to be a great motocross rider

  7. Well i am closely rated to a pro mx rider, and from what i have heard whilst he was growing up and trying to get into the pro mx scene all he would do is train, practive, work out etc and thats the only way to become a pro.

if you really wanted it that bad you would train rather than play xbox. i f i was you i wouldnt sell it i would just unplug and try not play it hardly atall or you could just take the temptation away just sell it. it would give you more money to use for your bike!
