Motoki Sasaki loses unanimous points decision against Humberto Soto – Boxing news
The 35-year-old Lightweight contender Motoki Sasaki has lost his chance to become the oldest Japanese boxer to win a world title after losing a unanimous points decision against the 31-year-old, Humberto Soto of Mexico on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at the Parque
Andres Quintana Roo in Cozumel, Mexico.
The time was 1:18 of the eleventh round when the referee Frank Gentile called the bout off. Alan Krebs, Burt A. Clements and Nicolas Hidalgo were appointed as the judges to that competitive bout. All the three judges gave the points in favour of the Humberto
‘La Zorrita’ Soto.
Sasaki went down to the canvas in the fifth round. The Mexican professional Lightweight contender Armando Humberto Soto Ochoa, who is the former Interim WBC Featherweight and Super Featherweight champion, successfully defended his WBC Lightweight title for
the fourth time.
Soto claimed his WBC Lightweight title by winning a unanimous points decision when he went face to face with David Diaz in their 12-round bout at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, United States. The current WBC Lightweight Champion, Humberto Soto scored
his 15th consecutive victory against Sasaki.
Sasaki said, “I noticed around the fourth and fifth rounds the champion was starting to tire but I couldn't capitalize. I don't remember the punch that put me down in the fifth.”
Armando Soto fought 66 total fights of which he won 56 competitive bouts including 32 knockout victories with 7 considerable losses and 2 draws in his professional boxing career.
Soto turned professional in 1997 when he won a four-round points decision against Guillermo Guerra at the Auditorio Benito Juarez in Sinaloa, Mexico.
Sasaki faced the 9th loss of his career after losing this bout against Soto. Sasaki won the OPBF Light Welterweight title against Randy Suico in July 2010 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
