Motor Mount in my car keeps breaking. Any ideas what that could be.?

I have a 2001 Honda Civic and it was in a passenger side front accident a few weeks ago. My mechanic said he replaced the motor mount but he had a hard time getting it on and he said that it was very stressed. he believes something may be bent causing the motor mount not to line up. It is the upper motor mount on the passenger side that keeps breaking. The engine shakes like crazy when idling. Any idea what may be causing this. Is this related to the sub frame, or maybe a strut tower, or something

  1. Your mechanic is right, something is bent, take it back to the body shop that fixed it

  2. your engine shake is the biggest issue, if it does this with a good mount it will break it ! my nexy point is has he replaced ALL the mounts. there are mounts for the tail end (trans) and a broken shifted tear mount will make the front h**l to align.

  3. It is quite difficult to break a motor mount...you have to get you car lined up or get rid of it.

Who knows what other problem this car has.

    Good luck!

  4. If the motor mount is stressed or misaligned, you need to find out why (bent rail, one of the other mounts twisted or bent, etc) - the mount will continue to keep failing if it doesn't line up in a neutral position.

  5. sounds like the accident bent where the mount goes. id call your insurance adjuster and explain what is going on or fix the mount and sell the car asap
