Question:

Motor spins, but doesn't sew

I have a singer inspiration 4220. I've been trying to sew some seat cushions with fairly heavy fabric. It was sewing ok, but now it won't sew. The motor spins, but the needle doesn't go up and down. I turned it off and waited, thinking that it was overheated. But then it sewed about 2 inches and quit.

Any suggestions?
