  1. Is it a standard or auto drive...this can make a difference. What have u changed out so far


  2. Things I would check:

    Prop spins freely in neutral, fuel filters and waterseparator, flame arrestor or air filter, timing, idle adjustments, distributor.

    Is it doing the same thing in and out of the water?

  3. The more info you provide the more helpful we can be. Is it an outboard or sterndrive? What brand is it? What year is it? What did you change? You may as well ask us what color it is, we have as good a chance at guessing that.

  4. If it just dies once put into gear it could be your shift interrupter if it is a older stern drive.  Old mercs used that for a while.  Your carb's idle could be set to low.  Check your fuel filters.  Good luck with it.  Give more details about your set up would be helpful.
